hello 08sept09 starting this blog.
previously i have put a bunch on my website, themartianembassy.com.
you can see where i am coming from by checking that site, but i have NOT put anything on it for a few years, and

mostly several years.
NOW i will periodically post my own personal opinions about arts (incuding music), politics (norwegian and usa, and

international), philosophy, cosmology, psychology, and my thoughts about my long life as a thinker.

descartes may have ben a great mathematician, but he was no philosopher. he merely tried to placate the vatican

inquisition. it is odd that so many supposedly intelligent people have for so long respected his philosophy ---

they demonstrate the ubiquity of educated fools.

the interesting discussion here has been based on Jehovah/Allah, ignoring myriad other gods. As a spiritually

aware cultured atheist, i enjoy religions and their contributions to art, etc, e g, the music of J S Bach. But we

must distinguish between the opinions of adults, and the child abuse of terrorising the young. people of all ages

want to believe in santa claus, whether he is called santa claus or, e g, Jesus. Most people who claim to believe

in a god are too ignorant to know what the word believe means. By the way, those who say God did not give us war,

should read Leviticus, in which Moses leads the Jews in the name of God, but actually to subdue Egypt`s northeast

territory for the Pharoah. Although Jesus wisely but vainly tried to discourage the Jews from rising against Rome,

eventually the cross was used as the emblem ("In this sign conquer") of the victorious Roman, absorbing

Christianity into what became the vatican, and cuing Mohammed to use Allah as his war banner. So we need to

distinguish between religion, with or without a god, that is peaceful, v v religion used as excuse to kill thy

neighbor.

300809 from elf,
to fellow enemies of right-wing extremist savages:
The doctor in the rightwing savage ad who says usa will not have enough doctors if it tries to provide medical

care to the 50,000,000 more who need it, seems to not want there to be enough doctors, lest the protectionism

defending doctors fail to keep their numbers down, so the fewer doctors can get rich on the sufferings of their

prey. And the ad refers repeatedly and solely to the opinion monger rag, the wall street journal, and without

specific source.
Remember that since the middle of the 20th century doctors have been chanting the same dirge, while preventing

sufficient increase in the amount of doctors. Of course, if usa had started the argument at the proper focus,

which is the needs of the populace, the medical personnel numbers would have grown reasonably.
The ad panders to dummies who believe the number of doctors is absolute, and not a product of social policy over

decades, and that it is a function of the absolute proportion of smart people, instead of the product of education.
The question HIDDEN and unaddressed is, what is supposed to be the fate of the 50,000,000---obviously the anti-

sharing savage so-called conservatives would "consign them to the devil", as the evil french aristocrat put it in

the opening scene of "a tale of two cities" by charles dickens, about the french revolution.
In the meantime, the Rushian Limbaugh method swamps innumerable doctors in perverse anti-sharing pseudo-

administrative petty picayune Uncle Scrooge accounting.
Too many americans view usa as merely a battlefield on which to exploit thy neighbor, and hate sharing.
They then proceed to define usa according to their own hoarding pseudo-values, calling themselves conservative

patriots.

260909 for blog. I enjoy the words of the fox tv types, because i assume they will not win, so their stupidity is

amusing. But they know that most voters are politically incompetent. The numbers of ignorant and stupid are

augmented by the adolescent --- when rightist thugs appeal to the childish, they intend to influence the vast

numbers of almost -19s, so they will love john wayne blindly.
And the appeal to the dummies, manifest, e g, in the halting speech of bush jr, is latent in the feeling among

many bad guys that indeed anti-black prejudice in others will aid efforts to oppose obama.
So the fox tv types are less stupid than wicked.
Which allows me to laugh at them freely. If they were simply simple, they would arouse pity merely. But they,

being devils, are like myriad damned in a bosch-like painting, falling on banana peels forever.
Of course, they do serve the good function of deceiving the potentially violent with an illusion that thug views

are well represented by wit.
The fox tv types, in the meantime, doubtless enjoy being exhibitionist naughty children trying to get attention.
But be careful --- so did hitler nazis.

Human overpopulation is the greatest destroyer.
We do not realize how fast human population expands.
Consider how many people there would be today if that disaster about 70,000 years ago had not killed over 90%!
There must be purposeful human population control.
Global warming is a side-effect of human over-population.
Save the sloths!!

Faces are ubiquitous , in nature and art. Trolls in rocks, faces in paintings of trees and shadows, the face on

Mars, the man in the moon. Artists need to get rid of them if they dont want them. we see patterns, and respond

to what looks like us. My friends and I constantly see faces in snow, food. Any irregularity contains resemblance

to faces. We live in relationship. We also see faces in faces, we love Marilyn Monroe, we say a woman is as

beautiful as the moon. Flounders look like my father. And, of course, patterns of faces are real. Patterns of

faces tend to form. That is why we have faces. When I say we, I include insects as well as apes and cats and...
The entire universe is the expression of abstract relationship taking form.

the entire logic of imprisonment timing is wrong. it must be based on at least two parameters: not only the length

of the sentence, but primarily the age of release. for example, two criminals doing the same crime, one thirty

years old, the other forty years old, both should be released when sixty years old.

i am disgusted by the rightists who are professional liars for the causes of uncivilized special interests, and

then whine when they are called the spades they are.
fox´s riley says those who oppose him are nazis.
typical.
sociopaths characteristically harm and expect complaint, which they then whine about.
i am disgusted by politicians referring to each other as friends when they are enemies.
president obama was gracefully elegant in his minimal complaints about the devils opposed to health care period,

except as merely yet another product by which to mulct thy neighbor.

usa secularly proceeded from the base of alleged god-given rights, to elaborate a system of law, not dictated by

religion, and this secular system, eventually enshrined in usa´s tradition of constitutional law, is now the

tradition, absent religion, on which usa society proceeds politically. This is a paradox which is often felt as

conflict by ignorant masses, and is easily exploited by demogogues, posing as so-called "populists", in the rough

and tumble of democracy---wherein support is sought by any means fair or foul, by any group vs any other group.
---------------------

Carter, in my opinion, misses the point about racism re vs obama: when folks say in poll they believe people

opposing obama are racist, that does not mean they feel such types oppose obama because he is black --- they feel

instinctively that such nasties , being nasty, are racist; their racism is merely incidentally part of their
symptom pattern.
When fox tv types, under the aegis of the tory australian murdoch, espouse values they attach to usa founding

fathers, they necessarily include slavery. They probably dream of ante-bellum south. Jefferson said he and his

friends tried to get congress to ban slavery, but lost by one or two votes --- ergo, half the founding fathers

liked slavery. One cannot, of course, by the way, attach to them any opinions re abortion. And while g washington

wanted the president to run foreign policy, that was then, this is now. And jefferson said each generation must

make its own laws. The thing that makes religions dangerous is reverence --- we must not treat our founding

fathers like some moslems do their procrustean traditions, or like the vatican and fundamentalist protestants do

their own dead hands of the past. The great thing is to be reasonable and distinguish, or, think. Saying all men

are created equal meant politically equal, while jefferson emphasized that instead of an aristocracy of heirs,

there is a natural aristocracy --- he did not mean everyone is the equal of thomas jefferson.
Dogma is not enough.
The mentality of ante-bellum south that led to usa civil war, was not simply defense of slavery; quite the

reverse --- slavery was defended as a feature of rotten political mentality.
We see in the fox tv types similar symptoms operating now. It is not that health care is opposed in itself, it

is that it is sensed to be against the dogma of quasi-toryism, the perverse pretense that each person must defend

his castle against his neighbor, as in the mythic good old days of medieval values.
The theories of freud combine with those of jung to enable us who think to analyze the unreasonable conduct of fox

tv types.
But on top of the widespread folly, is the puppet master clique, united in evil exploitation of social psychosis,

for the age-old purpose of preventing progress, lest their own prerogatives fall away.
The australian, Murdoch, and his ilk follow the dictum of the 19th century spanish king who said:
"We must stop the dangerous plague of thinking".
-----------------
A key hallmark of the stupid is that in their ignorance they cling to slogans as if they were insight, whereas

the bright are leery of slogans.
And demagogues use this principle as a ring in the nose of an ox, to lead the ignorant masses.
For example, what is socialism, really?
What is the understanding of the word in the average mind?
And in the mind of the demagogue?
Is it the blind leading the blind?
Or bad people discovering what works?
Democracy is three groups, with group A and group B competing for the support of group C.
All is fair in that combat.
Which is to say, fair has nothing to do with it.
Any vote is equal to any other vote.
When george bush the younger spoke awkwardly, he was acting, so as to appeal to the unintelligent.
Studying the causes of the usa civil war, i am struck by the insanity of the leaders of the Confederacy.
Many among them were descended from important heroes of the usa revolution.
What moved them to secede?
It was a quixotic attempt.
But it seems to me that although slavery was on its way out and they knew it, they clung to aristocracy, the notion

that they were the upper class in the sense of ancient british royalty --- they were not led by jeffersonian

values, they conceived of themselves as equal to the friends of king arthur, and the revolution as simply their

attaining their own aristocratic society separate from that of the parent aristocracy as children inherit titles.
They were in the habit of using slaves as puppets, and insisted on continuing to be puppet-masters, but using the

southern whites as underlings --- note, by the way, that usa then had many indentured servants.
The demagogues leading the Confederacy manipulated the masses by slogans referring to the usa revolution in ways

convenient to their own perversion.
And the masses, as usual, were easily brain-washed.
Many irish immigrants, having fled the Hunger in Ireland, in the usa south seem to have attached facilely their own

ancient hatred of london, onto the usa federal government, loving the conceit of separation.
In all this, we see yet again the obsession with competing with fathers, by exceeding the patriotism ascribed to

them in the usa revolution.
and of course the classic sibling rivalry associated with territorial status.
Such dangerous mix of pseudo patriotism is still poisoning opinion today, and still exploited by right-wing

demagogues.
The clinging to idiosyncratic dogma, however mindless, is a basic hallmark of ethnicity --- ethnicity is not

defined solely by ancestry, it is joined.
So, americans who think, called "liberals" by others, need to be aware of the underlying factors motivating the

dummies.
Everyone demands to be right.
So the ignorant swallow lies and emulate the liars.
Knowing they themselves do not know, they are defensive.
Demagogues accuse others of lying, attaching to the others the anxiety the believers feel as to whether or not they

themselves and their leaders are right.
Words rapidly shift meaning by social manipulation.
What does the word liberal mean. or socialist, or conservative.
Or science, or religion.
Or ignorant or stupid.
Of course many americans suffer from a conceit that they are aristocrats by virtue of having ancestors who were

here before others got to usa. Accordingly they show symptoms similar to those of the Confederacy delusionals.
This problem is the other side of an international difficulty, in that some peoples, e g norwegians, are confused

due to not constituting, like usa, a nation of immigrants.
Indeed, it seems that even intelligent americans forget this difference, and its latent influence on international

relations as well as domestic politics. Uncle Sam should not expect every nation to emulate usa in accepting

ethnic variety. Nor should every nation force itself to be a nation of immigrants. Vagueness in understanding

this international spectrum is foolishly naive.
Anyway, many americans coming from ethnically relatively homogeneous nations in which ancestry defined social

status and national identity retain a sense of sequential hierarchy based on relative seniority of arrival.
They forget that usa is by definition a nation of immigrants, in contradistinction to their old countries.
Unfortunately, in combating the tendency to lord it over others on this basis, many americans who think drift into

a position of considering intra-national ethnic egalitarianism a virtue of absolute meaning, properly to be

imposed universally.
USA is a large country geographically. Japan, e g, has a third the population of usa in its small area.
USA stands for ethnic tolerance among americans. But americans choose who they want to live among, and what sort

of society, whether boston or las vegas.
The conundrum of medical care reflects this paradox.
The average american does not see herself as a national entity, rather, as a person in conflict vs a vast horde of

special interests, large and small, corporate and individual --- as if usa is a pit in which species collide.
The government and the idea of nation is seen to function as umpire team to try to ensure fair play.
But fair play is not really wanted.
People immigrate to usa not to give, but to take.
USA is seen as an endless jungle to be raped as efficiently as the person and his ethnic group can do it.
The worst embodiments of all this viciousness are the republicans, and the avatar is fox tv owner Murdock the

australian.

from NEWSMAX Tuesday, September 29, 2009 7:38 PM:

Talk show host Rush Limbaugh is praising former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin as the conservative

candidate liberals fear the most — and says he hopes her upcoming book sells 5 million copies.

“I have been pointing out that the Democrat Party and the media will tell us who they fear most — and they're not

afraid of Huckabee, and they're not afraid of Mitt Romney, and they're not afraid of Rudy Giuliani,” Limbaugh said

on his show Tuesday.

“But they have gone out of their way to destroy Sarah Palin,” he continued. “They have gone out of their way to

destroy me . . "

MY COMMENT:
let it be remembered that pundit R L opines, huckabee, romney, giuliani are even less callenging to dems than RL or
